‘Finding Farideh’, Iran’s official submission to the 2020 Academy Awards, has been awarded at the 5th Herat International Women's Film Festival in Afghanistan.
The fest held in late August 2019 was crowned as the Best Documentary.
Co-directed by duo Azadeh Mousavi and Kourosh Ataee, the feature-length documentary follows an Iranian girl adopted at infancy by a Dutch couple who 40 years later travels to Iran in search of her biological parents.
The 92nd Academy Awards will be held in February.
‘Finding Farideh' marks Iran’s first official submission to Oscars as a documentary film.
Iran has won the Oscar in International Feature Film category twice with Ashgar Farhadi’s 'The Salesman' and 'A Separation'.
